APPELLATE PRACTICE

What It Is

An appeal presents an array of procedural intricacies, substantive challenges and tactical considerations that demand adept lawyering. The firm’s appellate group consists of experienced attorneys (including former judicial law clerks) who have the knowledge and ability to handle all aspects of an appeal.

Although no lawyer can guarantee a particular result on appeal, our appellate practitioners use their good judgment and proficiency in written and oral advocacy to maximize the odds that a favorable judgment will be affirmed and an unfavorable judgment will be reversed. In addition to serving as lead counsel in appeals, the firm is regularly asked to provide consulting services to parties and lawyers who need assistance handling an appeal, and to prepare amicus briefs for nonparties who have a significant interest or stake in the outcome of an appeal.
